Turns Out Space Does Matter

A little while ago I said I was going to stop ending sentences with two spaces when writing in non-monospace fonts, but nearly three decades as a typist have made this a hard habit to break. I keep double-spacing full stops in this blog. (There–I just did it again.) According to the indisputable font of all knowledge, this shouldn’t matter because “HTML ignores additional spacing”. However, it does matter on WordPress. If a sentence preceded by two spaces ends up at the beginning of a line, it will be rendered one space in from the left margin. If you use a single space, left justification is handled correctly. I’m not the only person to have noticed this. I think it’s a bug.
